Funk Bros is my neighborhood mechanic... I never thought it would be possible to call someone my mechanic in the big city of LA. I have been going to these guys for almost 5 years now and have never ever had an unpleasant experience. I work a lot, so it can be difficult to find time to get the oil changed, however, I will usually call them early in the morning and show up 30 minutes later and be out of there in 30 minutes. Sometimes I think I need a tire rotation and they tell me it won't be necessary until the next time I'm there. They have NEVER tried to up sell to me, if anything, they are usually telling me I don't need something that I request. By far the most genuine and wonderful people who honestly care about giving their customers the best/most satisfying experience possible. I feel guilty I haven't written a review for them yet, however, I just got home from there and decided I needed to create a Yelp account just so that I could share with the people of LA how awesome this place is. They are the first review I have ever written on Yelp and am so glad it's them who have popped my Yelp cherry. If you're looking for a place to take your car to be serviced and handled with care, this is the place to go, hands down.

What can I say? Going forward, I won't be going anywhere else for my automotive repair (or maintenance) needs. My Cadillac SRX had a gremlin in it, a very bad one. The car shook frequently, the CEL (Check Engine Light) just kept flashing and I lost a lot of power. A good mechanic friend of mines had told me about a shop that he sometimes recommends his clients to go to. Being that I trust him, I trusted his word and I am so glad I did. Hovik at Funk Brothers checked out the car and determined the computer had to be replaced on the car, the root of the issues I was experiencing. It was a quick turnaround and the car was ready the following day. Very knowledgeable, professional, honest and fair service. Los Angeles is a big city and there are hundreds of shops out there and I have been to many. Amongst all of them, the service I have received at Funk Brothers is at the top of the list. Yes, the repair may have cost me but the issue was resolved in great fashion. I couldn't be happier. Thank you Hovik and thank you Funk Brothers.

I can only comment on Smog Check. They are the cheapest I've found at $40 with certificate. I would have given 5 stars but on the previous 2 times I tried to go, once the smog check guy wasn't coming in until about 30 minutes after the posted time for tests. The other time they weren't ready and needed to start up and calibrate the machine which takes about an hour, it's a good thing I live a couple blocks away with no other obligations that day. If you're going in the morning it might be a good idea to give them a call ahead so you don't have the same issues I had. After they told me there'd be an hour wait I went to check out another Smog Check at Cook's Corner self car wash on Melrose between Highland and La Cahuenga. They were charging $70 with certificate. No thanks. The mechanics working there are nice and accommodating. There's a reason Funk Bros have been around for so long.

Had my Toyota 4Runner worked on twice by Funk Brothers in the last 10 months. Once for strut replacements and timing belt/water pump replacement. Second time for new front brake discs and pads. Great service and turn-around. Are they cheap? No. Nor are they a rip-off. You get what you pay for. They do quality work and I find their prices fair. Pay a little bit more now and save in the long run. I've read the 1-star reviews and find them odd. Read the Funk Bros. responses and they make sense as well as match Hovig's temperament as a straight shooter. Funk Brothers is now my go-to mechanic. 4.5 Stars if it were possible.

I had never had to get a smog check before so I thought it would be an experience like going to the DMV, which is always just SOO fun but completely necessary. That was not the case. I came in just in time before close and the 2 gentlemen working were happy to help! There was a couple couches for waiting so I checked my emails and they were done. $40 I think. 30 minute service and good customer service!

It's hard to find a really nice, knowledgeable mechanic who does great work, and most of all is completely trustworthy. I found Funk Brothers many years ago and I'm sticking with them. They're fast, thorough, reasonably (often very reasonably) priced, and they fix things properly. They communicate all the issues clearly, and they're very straightforward to deal with. But most of all, you can really trust them to take good care of your car and tell you what's going on. If your car doesn't really have the problem you brought it in for, they'll tell you and not charge you for it; if your car has some other problem you weren't aware of, they'll explain it all to you and find the best option for dealing with it. They really take pride in what they do, and do it well, and you can set your mind at ease that your car and your money are in good hands. I don't even live that close to their shop, but I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. 100% recommended!!!

VERY pleased with the service I received here. They were fast, reasonably priced, incredibly polite, and didn't try to fix anything that didn't need fixing. Will definitely be going back!

I have been to alot of mechanics for my Ford Rangers and never have i met a business like this. I heard about this company through a friend of mine. On my arrival i was greeted by a Man by the name of Hovic very polite. I began to explain to him what was wrong with my car and right away started brain storming on what the problem might be. I had previous work done on my vehilce by a shop that ruined my engine but did not want to take the fault. Hovic had me leave the car and contacted me in 2 hours informing me on what the problem was. He gave me a legitmate amount for the repairs and informed me that i would be able to pick up the vehilce the next day. When i arrived to pick up my vehilce and he was having a BBQ for his employees they offered me some chicken LOL which was very nice of them. I had them replace my engine 6 months ago and the vehilce is running better then when i brought it brand new!!!!!!!!! I love this shop and will never go to another again. Please try this shop if you are looking for some good work and a honest opinion!!!!!! Thank you.

Woke up one day to a smashed driver-side headlight. Hit and run overnight, ugh. Getting stuck with the repair was definitely not cool. Took it in to the shop and everything went smooth and quickly, which was a great relief. Looked at my car, signed some papers, and asked a couple questions. No hassles and a week later and my car was as good as new. As a bonus they even did a little work on my back bumper which had damage from a previous fender bender. Now that's excellent service! 5/5 Would return for future repairs.

These guys are great. They're honest and reasonably priced. I've taken my car to them 3 times now and couldn't be happier.
