I've been in LA for the past 4 years and they are the only place I go to. I am in the car a lot as my job requires it and so does traveling to auditions. So, I make sure to keep my car in great health and so does Funk Bros. They are the most trust worthy people in LA and the best part is they educate you about is wrong with your car and take the time to properly diagnose it. They don't just jump to the most expensive fix as others do. I recently got my AC compressor fixed from them and the shop closed, but the owner stayed behind thirty minutes because I couldn't get there in time. Great people and Hovig is the man!

it's all true. They're actually really good and HONEST. I will definitely come back. Be careful though: A&M is actually next door, don't go there. I mistakenly went there looking for Funk Bros (I was in a hurry) and got ripped off, LA style.

Recently bought a used SUV, one of the light is on so I took the car here for a check up. They are very knowledgeable and told me straight up what I needed to change, and that I would pay double in the future when my car breaks down from the initial problems, so I need have to fix this now. I took the car in late tuesday afternoon, thinking I can get it out the same day because I was only expecting alignment to be done. But after they analyzed my car the work amount needed for the car will take at least about 1 and a half days. I told them about my situation (my family was gonna take my car for a trip to vegas the following day). So I cant possibly leave the car here for a day, also I had no ride home. I was told they will put 2 men to work on my car and that my car would be done around 12-1pm, still early enough to leave for vegas without hitting heavy traffic. They also gave me a car to drive home without even charging me anything that day, despite they had to order several parts for me.. I appreciate this gesture of trust The next day at 11am, I received a call that my car was ready to be picked up. WOW Car runs great, its a little expensive on the installation labor, but they did a great and fast job. I would rather pay this money than take my car to some shady auto shops that are cheap but don't even fix your cars problem. if your car has problems...These guys will take care of you. I would recommend this place to my friends

The best auto mechanics in Hollywood, period! They're honest, and if there's a less expensive option to fix your car problem, they will tell you about it. Also, when they fix a problem on your car, you don't have to take it back multiple times (like some other mechanics). They do it right the first time!

Professional, knowledgable and trustworthy! Took my 2007 Maxima to my "regular" mechanic in the South Bay for a scraping noise in the right front. After a test drive, he stated it sounded like a wheel bearing. Back at the shop, with the car on the hoist, he "confirmed" the bearing was bad (by using a stethoscope), and the cost was $400. THEN, the owner of the shop (to be Yelped about after i'm done here!), stated the noise was really coming from the transmission, and that it would be $2600.00 to install a used one. Note that i had ZERO tranmission problems (shifting, slipping, leaking, etc) A co-worker advised i speak to Hovig at Funk Bros. The test drive also sounded like a possible bearing to him. After pulling the wheel, he found it was only the axle nut that was loose! He stated the bearing did suffer some wear from driving with the loose nut, but it wasn't "worn out" and didn't need to be replaced right then. Erring on the side of caution, i had him replace it anyway (for way less than $400), and all the noise is gone! I will be bringing the rest of my vehicles here for service from now on.

Don't trust these guys! They responded to my Yelp review stating that they don't install after market parts, but they did give me a quote of $125 per wheel. If they don't install aftermarket parts - then why did they give me a quote? I left not because of the quoted price, but do to the fact that these guys were speaking another language between them - when I'm asking questions (there is something very shady with that)! P.S. - KYB and Monroe don't make shocks/struts for my car. I can only get OEM specific items from Japan (Nissan/Infiniti) for my model year! Caution with these guys! Femi, We appreciate you considered us for your car needs. We do not install after market (performance oriented) coil over shocks on cars. It is a liability for us. Coil over suspensions such as the kit you brought in change the handling dynamic of your car from its original design. We install only suspension components that meet OEM specifications. As you already know, the dampers you brought in are set to be harder that OEM and your vehicle height lowered from manufacturer recommendations. You are correct, the ride height is adjustable but I doubt you spent more on coil overs and are going to drive at standard height? If so this is why we recommended the standard shocks provided by KYB, Monroe etc. which provide the recommended specification by your vehicle manufacturer and are cheaper. Lowering of the car also alters alignment specifications... This might be what you want but will affect the driving and handling characteristics of your car, potentially reduce the life of your tires etc. Sorry we could not be of service.

I needed an air pump installed to pass the smog test on my out of state truck to complete it's CA registration. It is an older vehicle so I used yelp (as I normally do) to find highly rated businesses as a start to my search. What I thought was going to be a simple fix escalated rapidly into a nightmare. I spent two months searching for a mechanic that could install the part , but I only encountered dozens of failed attempts shop after shop, until someone recommended Funk Brothers. I decided to give them a try as a last resort, and I am really glad I did. If you need work done on an older car / trunk I highly recommend these guys. They keep you updated regularly about the progress of your vehicle, and when they say they can do it, they mean it. Hovig is not your typical shop manager, he actually takes the time to explain things and listens to his customers. Its relieving to have finally found a reliable shop, with dependable service and trustworthy crew. No wonder they've been around since 1925.

These guys charge two to three times as much as other shops for the same work. Then they whine and moan when you post your disgust online. Don't get me wrong, it is the same work. I called the FORD DEALERSHIP in Glendale, and they quoted me price far lower than this place, for the same part and the same labor. So I went to a place in the valley who fixed my car for a third of the price quoted me at FUNK. Go have your car fixed here if you are either rich or stupid, or both. Otherwise shop around.

I came here because it's nearby, and the ratings and reviews were amazing (the last Saturday of July)... unfortunately, I left this shop without giving them business and feeling a little offended. I needed a smog check but the check-engine light was on, which I knew meant it wouldn't pass. The manager/owner, at least he acted like it, plugged in a machine to test it and it came up with some code. He then told me that it would cost $600 to get the car checked on top of whatever work that was needed to be done. I guess I looked confused upon hearing that because he proceeded to say "I need to pay my man to find out what's wrong with it. So it's $600 for that labor then when I tell you what's wrong you can decide whether or not you have the additional money to get it fixed." Excuse me? I know it's an older car and me not wanting to pay you $600 to tell me what's wrong with it does not mean I don't have money. It definitely sounded like he was just discouraging me and that he didn't need my business. So, fine, I left. I then googled the code that came up and saw right away a forum for the exact same code for the exact same make/model of car, i.e. didn't sound like a complicated code/issue to "try to figure out". I'm no mechanic, of course, so I just drove down Melrose to the next auto shop, and they asked me to leave the car so they could look at it. They called me back to tell me it was the EGR valve (a very common car repair issue!) and how much the part was and the labor for it (without insinuating that I would think it was a lot of money even though it probably was for an EGR valve replacement - $500 - but, you see, I do have money). And, this is how car shops work in my experience! I don't know why I had a different experience here at Funk Brothers especially in light of all the high ratings and glowing reviews. Maybe they don't service non-high-end cars, or don't care for my measly $500 for a simple EGR valve-replacement job.

**I'm only writing 4 stars, because when I write 5 it disappears*** This place deserves 10 stars. Honesty and integrity is an absolute must when someone like me (who knows nothing about cars) needs something fixed. I went to Funk Brothers for an issue - the owner could have done the job and made about $300...but he made me aware that there was a recall for this make of my car (different model - bu there was a chance my model could be on the list too). While I was still at Funk Brothers I called the dealership I bought it from. I called my dealership - great news - my model also had the recall for the issue too.....and then they proceeded to tell me it would cost about $300 to do it. (Not my definition of a recall)...I told Hovig, the owner of Funk Brothers - and he told me to call another dealer and even gave me the name of the service representative to ask for. The representative set me up for an appointment and said all of the costs would be covered....thankfully I have Funk Brothers to trust (and save me $300) - I can't say enough good things about them.
