Hovig was honest & professional from the first email. Yes, I emailed him from the reviews on here and Angie's List. He got right back to me and we set up an appointment. My Golf TDI had just come off warranty and needed a 40K mile service. After we scheduled, I brought him the car and he looked up all the necessary work that VW recommended doing on the service. He was no nonsense and direct and while I expected to come back at the end of the day, they managed to do the service, and smog the car while I waited. Oh and of course, not only is the service better than you get at a dealer, but it was a third of the price. Hovig has earned not just this review, but my future business and since we have three cars in my family, that will probably be pretty soon!

I've been going to Funk Brothers for the last 7 years. They are trustworthy and efficient. Funk Brothers is the best repair shop on this side of town that I can recommend.

Hovig is the best. My daughter moved to West Hollywood and needed smog test for her car. Found this place. He is straight forward and I am happy I took her car here.

I was in the middle of moving from West Hollywood to West Hills and I had my truck repaired for a broken fuel pump. About a week later, the truck started spewing gas from a leaking fuel line and after towing it back to Funk Bros (from West Hills), they repaired it at no cost, AND repaired my A/C system (compressor, belt, tensioner) FOR FREE (to offset the towing costs and the inconvenience). This type of customer service is what's missing these days. I've used Funk Brothers before and would use them for every repair job. I am sad I no longer live near them.

I'm happy I came here today! They were very honest and showed me what needed to be fixed on my car. They did a great job for a very reasonable price! Definitely recommend it ;)

These guys were wonderful. I came in for a smog check and a brake light replacement. My car was past the age limit for his testing machine so he gave me a couple of other options down the street. However, he did offer to replace the brake light right then and there so I wouldn't have to wait any longer. When I went to pay for the labor, he said, "You're good to go. It's our pleasure." No money out of my pocket. He didn't have to do this. He could have just sent me on my way to get my smog check. I have a lot of respect for businesses that go above and beyond to make the customer happy. I'll definitely be coming back and sending my friends.

I've been taking my car here since I moved to the area about 3 years ago, and I've kept meaning to write a review but haven't until now! These guys are great - they are honest and reliable, which I definitely look for in a mechanic. Being a girl, I know in the past that some mechanics have tried to take advantage of my limited car knowledge. The guys here take the time to show me what is wrong and what they are doing (though I may not 100% understand it). They are willing to work with me on prices (parts wise) and will tell me if some part that I will eventually need can maybe wait a month or two, which I appreciate. I've never felt like they are trying to oversell me on anything. In fact, a few times I've brought my car in because it was making a noise, or the check engine light popped on quickly, and they've taken a look (and even kept it overnight), and sometimes all it came down to was tightening a screw to fix the problem, which they did at no charge. I do agree with a few other reviewers who say they are a little pricey, which I've found to be true. However, their customer service and honesty to me is totally worth it.

This, from my husband: "I've looked long and hard for a reputable mechanic: I've owned BMWs and recently, having had electrical problems with my 2000 Eldorado ETC, I felt less than optimistic about finding a mechanic who could both do the work needed for a price that would not 'break the bank'. My wife, who combs Angie's List for exceptional values regularly, found Funk Brothers in Hollywood. I read very positive reviews and went to them, directly. Not only was I surprised by their openness, I was even more than relieved to hear their operations manager, Hovig, who provided me with 'minimum' requirements and/or more extensive repair options. NO ONE has ever been more open and so candid with me, ever, regarding the extent and detail of ANY car repairs I've had in over four decades of dealing with automotive maintenance. ~To be succinct, Funk Brothers will be the ONLY mechanic I will ever deal with here in Los Angeles.... Price, service and complete disclosure, both before, during and after service is/was completely transparent: Needless to say, such 'old school' values are beyond hard to come by! No hidden charges.... No surprises, just kind and most competent people who care, respectfully, about YOU, the customer. Never once have I encountered any sour or 'bad attitude' from these folks, just very complete customer service at prices that rival ANYONE else... Drive by their lot on La Brea.... They are always PACKED with cars of all makes and models... That alone speaks volumes about both their service and the excellent results that they provide. Bar none, Funk Brothers is the best value for virtually any kind of car, body, electrical and mechanical."

These guys rock! Came in for a smog check and if you ever need one this should be your #1 top choice. Super quick fast promt professional and super chill to top it off. I'm sure the owner was the one who helped me and big shot out to Hovic. Funny story so a cordless was left in my car. I didn't notice it till a fews hours driving around. I was like WTH? Where the heck did that come from? I thought is was this restaurant that left it with the food in the togo bag. So right after I drove back to the restaurant And totally got looked at weird for saying they left their phone in my food lol I get a funny message of the smog shop and bingo that's where the mystery phone belongs to.

My review was NOT fraudulent. I take great exception to your suggestion that I made this up. I have zero interest in promoting any other business.
